Here are only a few event descriptions and pictures that our troop has recently participated in the recent months:

West Point Camporee April 29th-30th:

On April 29th, Troop 125 headed off to West Point Military Academy to take place in their annual Camporee. The weekend started with news of the Bull Head Trail being closed, so instead of hiking into camp we had to wait for the buses. While waiting we were able to enjoy a military challenge from the cadets. The bus dropped us off at camp; the troop was rounded up to set up camp. The troop did a awesome job setting up camp though the mud and chilly air. This task was completed a little after midnight. Early Saturday morning we were woken up at 5:30 in the morning to do physical training with our cadet, Rob. Rob instructed us to complete a series of pushups, situps and leg lifts. Next was a ½ mile jog to the parade field for some relay races. We jogged back to camp, weaving in and out the 6,000 other scouts at the camporee. We were welcomed by a well cooked meal of pancakes and sausage. Opening ceremony was next so the troop went up to the Parade Field for the Flag Ceremony. Then the field exploded into a U.S. Army demonstration. The cadets showed off their skills with M4A1’s, M16’s, SAW’s and even afew Brovo 240’s.  And out of nowhere, a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter lands. After the ceremony was over the events began. . There was heavy artillery shooting, fly fishing, rafting, fire building, physical training, pistol shooting, grenade throwing, and many more fun activities that our troop enjoyed. The Hawk Patrol set a few West Point records on the Physical Training Station! The other patrols did a great job at their stations and had a awesome time. The weekend closed early on Saturday when the troop decided it would be better to depart from West Point then, instead of on Sunday due to the long drive and huge crowd.

Hershey Park Adventure September 24th-26th:

When the leadership talked to the scouts of Troop 125 about what campout they wanted to go on in September, we got lot of talk about a amusement park. So the leadership made this happen. We enjoyed all of Saturday at the park. We enjoyed ourself's from opening 'till closing. We also took the Factory Tour. As we were leaving the park Nickelback was playing in the Amphitheater. A Sweet time was had by all.

Resica Falls Summer Camp Program July 2010:

37 of our scouts joined the fun on July 4th and returned smelly and tired on July 10th after a week of fun and hard work. Boy Scout Summer Camp is a opportunity to earn merit badges, enjoy the outdoors and each others company. Our troop participated in games, we worked hard to get The Cradle Of Liberty Council Troop Award, and our entrance way won us The Key to Resica. We hiked along the Bushkill Creek, stopped at numerous waterfalls and swimming holes, and jumped into its cool waters from over 7 feet above the surface. Our troop went up to the lake and completed the canoeing merit badge, then sailed and boated around. Two of our scouts (Nathan and Aaron) completed the mile swim, Congrats. A few of our scouts also braved the great outdoors and built a shelter and for a night to complete the Wilderness Survival Merit badge. A big accomplishment was completed by the 1st year scouts, after a week of working on the Dan Beard program, they all earned their Totin' Chip and completed the Swimming Merit Badge that is required for Eagle, great job guys. The camp looked great after our scouts completed a small service project to rebuild the fire-pits, clean the common areas, and made benches around the fire-pits. Our troop also took "The Plunge", the Polar Bear Plunge that is. We did that event the first three mornings. The troops leaders, both adult and scouts, really stepped up and made this week a very great time. Special thanks to all our adult leaders and our acting senior patrol leader.

This is The Bushkill Creek. As a whole, we spent hours of fun playing in the rapids and rocks.

Just one of the seven tables that our troop sat at for our meals.

The team after the service project was done.

A few scouts enjoying the Watering hole.

Camporee May 14-16, 2010

Governor Bacon Center

Delaware City, De.

Harpers Ferry/ AT Hike May 2010:

About 20 members of our troop enjoyed the view from Weverton Cliffs. Elevation is around 600 ft. above sea level. We then continued the four mile hike into Harpers Ferry, West Virgina. This historical city was a nice resting place after the 11 mile hike the day before. We met a old boy scout on the trail. That was a cool experience to talk to him. A all around great trip. Thank you to all involved.

Klondike Weekend 2010:

Our troop had a very fun time and we didn't leave empty handed, Hawk Patrol came home with a solid 3rd place finish overall. And our former Shark Patrol enjoyed their plaque for coming in second place in the OA hosted race after the days events. Go Troop 125!

Merit Badge College 2010:

In a course of two Saturdays the troop was able to complete up to four merit badges.  With only a few partials, the troop grew in knowledge and lessened in space on our sashes.

Shenandoah National Park/ Skyline Drive Hike September 2009

The Troop hiked a total of 16 miles of the trails around the Shenandoah Area. We hiked to waterfalls, cliffs, peaks and jut about everything in between.
